What is Motor third party liability insurance?

Motor third party liability insurance is a legally required insurance that is concluded when registering a motor vehicle.

The liability insurance policy provides liability for damage caused to a third party by the use of a motor vehicle.

Based on the concluded auto liability insurance, the insurer compensates the injured party for material (destruction, damage or disappearance of things) and non-material damage (physical damage, impaired health or death).

What territory is this insurance coverage applied to?

Insurance coverage is provided for damages incurred in the territory of the Republic of Serbia, the Member States of the European Union, the territories of the Member States of the International Insurance Card System, or of countries whose national insurance bureau is a signatory to the Multilateral Agreement.

The Green Card, as a certificate of motor third party liability insurance, remains a required document for vehicles entering the territory of some of the following countries: Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Turkey, Israel, Iran, Macedonia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Tunisia and Morocco .

The auto liability insurance policy does not cover damages to your own vehicle. This kind of damages are covered by comprehensive (casco) insurance policy.

COMPREHENSIVE (CASCO) MOTOR VEHICLE INSURANCE

What is comprehensive (casco) motor vehicle insurance?

Comprehensive (casco) motor vehicle insurance covers most of the damages to a motor vehicle caused while driving, stationary or in the parking lot.

What risks is the car insured against?

Comprehensive insurance protects your vehicle against partial, total and additional Casco risks and against the total damage to the vehicle or working devices thereon.

Basic comprehensive (casco) motor vehicle insurance provides insurance coverage against risks such as:

  • Traffic accidents – rollover, collision, impact, slip, crash (survivorship) and similar causes, regardless of the fault of the insured;
  • The fall or impact of an object;
  • Fire;
  • Sudden thermal or chemical action caused from the outside;
  • Thunder;
  • Explosion other than nuclear explosion;
  • The storm;
  • Hail;
  • Avalanche;
  • The crash of the aircraft or its parts;
  • Manifestations and demonstrations;
  • Malicious acts or defamation of third parties;
  • Damage to the upholstery of the vehicle resulting from assistance to persons injured in a road accident or otherwise;
  • Deliberate damage to the insured property in order to prevent more damage to property or people;
  • Floods, torrents or high water.

What types of vehicles can be covered by comprehensive insurance?

Following types of vehicles can be covered by comprehensive insurance: all types of standard motor vehicles, trailers, special and service vehicles, motorcycles, rail vehicles, work machines and their components..

What territory is this insurance coverage applied to?

This type of insurance is valid in the territory of Europe(geographical boundaries of Europe, including the entire territory of Turkey) and the Republic of Serbia.

MOTOR ACCIDENT

What is Motor accident insurance?

The driver of the motor vehicle that caused the damage, as well as the passengers, by law, are not entitled to indemnity from the MTPL insurance.

Motor accident  insurance covers all persons who have the capacity of a driver or passenger in a vehicle, against the following risks:

  • deaths in the vehicle due to an accident
  • permanent disability as a consequence of an injury in the vehicle.

For most insurers, this type of insurance is negotiated on a policy that can also be deducted from partially comprehensive insurance.

ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE INSURANCE

What is roadside assistance insurance?

Road assistance is an insurance coverage  against possible problems when using motor vehicles in the country and abroad.

Insurance for roadside assistance includes 24/7 assistance, as well as coverage of necessary assistance costs if the car is not in running order or is unfit for further safe driving.

What costs can be indemnified by this insurance?

  • repair of the vehicle in case of minor breakdowns
  • towing – transporting a heavily damaged vehicle
  • travel assistance organizations
  • transportation of drivers and passengers to their place of residence or destination
  • accommodations for driver and passengers
  • keeping the vehicle
  • rental of a replacement vehicle
  • delivery of keys due to loss or theft
  • transporting the vehicle after a driver’s illness or death
  • return of children due to injury, illness, or death of the driver
